International STEM Tinkering Olympiad

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These four elements are present everywhere around us. The nature of future jobs will change comprehensively as the use of technology continues to expand extensively The future will demand more Innovators, Tinkerers and Creators who will be able to solve problems and come up with out of the box solutions.

ISTO is first of its kind STEM & Tinkering based Olympiad that aims to assess the students on the following parameters – Tinkering, Innovation, Experiences and Creativity.

  • Future demands innovators and tinkerers who can solve problems and come up with out of the box solutions. ISTO will help identify geniuses by unlocking Innovative & Creative mindset of the child.
  • STEM education is the driving force that will take the child on the journey of exploration through Tinkering, Innovation and Creativity.
  • Experiential-based learning is being taken up by the schools after the introduction of NEP 2020. Tinkering and Creativity will become the most sought skills of the 21st-Century.

ISTO 2020 at a glance

ISTO is first of its kind STEM & Tinkering based Olympiad that will aim to assess the students on three parameters – Tinkering, Innovation and Creativity. The Olympiad will be conducted in three stages and will attract students from all across the globe. This time, we are launching ISTO in more than 50+ countries.

In the ISTO 2020 Edition, we have three categories –  ISTO Junior, ISTO Intermediate and ISTO Senior.

ISTO 2020 will be held in three stages – STATE Level, National Level & International Level.

ISTO Updates

  • All the rounds will be conducted in Online Mode.
  • A registration form will be shared to all the participating schools. Each school will be allotted a Unique Registration Code (URC).
  • The test will have Multiple Choice Questions and short-answer text questions. The STATE Round will have a total of 30 questions and the duration of test will be of 45 minutes.
  • Schools will be provided with a Unique Registration Number (URN). The students will be able to participate in ISTO if they have URN provided by school. However, the students are also eligible to participate solo in the competition.
  • Top Rankers will stand a chance for amazing awards/Industry Level Internship.

Objectives of ISTO

  • STEM education and Tinkering are the buzzwords these days all across the globe. Children of 21st century need to develop scientific temperament and foster global skills like tinkering, innovation skills and creativeness.
  • ISTO aims in providing a platform to all the students who work diligently in workspaces like ATLs and are bringing innovations.
  • ISTO is designed so as to integrate and blend all the classroom students and learners.
  • Students are building valuable problem-solving skills through ATLs, Innovation labs, Incubation Centres and Robotics Club. ISTO will provide a platform to all such students in assessing their tinkering and innovative skills.

Final Round: International

  • 25th July, 2021

Top 1000 students across all the categories from National Round will qualify for the International Round

Certificate of Recognition to all the Qualifiers.

  • The Olympiad consists of three phases, i.e STATE Round, National Round and International Round
  • Top Rankers from each STATE will get qualified for the NATIONAL Round. And winners of National Round will be qualified for the International Round. The winner of ISTO 2020 will stand a chance to win amazing prizes.
  • The Olympiad will have three different categories, viz. ISTO Junior, ISTO Intermediate and ISTO Senior.
  • Certificate of Participation will be provided to all the participating students. Top Rankers in each round will get Certificate of Recognition.
  • All the rounds will be conducted in Online mode.

ISTO State Level Calendar 2020

  • Registration Link Active from 15th October, 2020
  • Last Date of Registration – 10th December, 2020
  • Login details will be shared by 15th December, 2020
  • The students can appear for ISTO State Round in any of the three time slots - Morning (10:30 AM to 11:15 AM), Afternoon (2:00 PM to 2:45 PM), Evening (5:00 PM to 5:45 PM)
  • Request for change in details will be entertained by 18th December, 2020.
